January Thursday Snippets

Our Summer sailing season resumes with joint ASC/APYC Commodore’s Series on Saturday 13th and 20th January. Each week there will be a number of shorter races commencing with the first at 2.30. No ASC Galley in January, so BYO lunch or try lunch at Boatshed CafĂ© next door.
The club has a junior school holiday program on Monday 22nd to Wednesday 24th January from 9.30 to 3pm each day. Club members are welcome to come and sail on Lake any of those days in their own boat or to hire a club Pacer, Sabre or Laser, with option to bring a friend or two. The Victorian Laser Association has listed events at Flinders on 20/21 January and MacCrae on 25/26 January which may be of interest to Laser sailors.
No ASC Club racing on 27th January (Australia Day long weekend). On 3rd February our club participates in the Top of the Bay Regatta event at Port Melbourne Yacht Club, with casual sailing at the Lake that afternoon.
ASC summer Learn to Sail program commences on Sunday 4th January, with two full day Sunday and three half day Saturday sessions across February into early March. Go to www.albertsc.org.au for further information and details on how to register.
We have a number of members returning from national championships interstate including from : junior Optimist class nationals in Queensland, Impulse Nationals in Adelaide, and Mirror nationals in Hobart. We wish them safe travels and look forward to seeing them down at the Lake in coming weeks.
