Thursday Snippets, 1 February

On 3/4 February there will be social sailing at Albert both days. The annual interclub Regatta for clubs from top end of Bay including Albert Park Lake clubs will be sailed from Williamstown Sailing Club starting at 2pm. This is a good opportunity to sail in a mixed classes event on Port Phillip. Notice of Race and Entry form on http://www.williamstownsailingclub.org.au/top-of-the-bay-s…/ Sailing Instructions later in week. Lodge entry form by email in advance. The course will be on Port Melbourne side of the main shipping channel. You can Rigup and sign on/off at either Williamstown SC or at Port Melbourne YC. Rod Thomas is one ASC member who plans to sail from Port Melbourne at end of Bay Street, leaving trailer at PMYC and parking in a local street with all day parking.
Our ASC Summer Learn to Sail program starts on Sunday 4th February and runs through to Saturday 3rd March. The course has a good number of adult and junior enrolments. Further information on the Learn to Sail tab of www.albertsc.org.au.
ASC Summer Series commences on Saturday 10th February with club race at 2.30pm, preceded by junior green fleet and Learn to Sail programs.
Parks Victoria have advised that the annual summer ‘aquatic vegetation harvest’ on Albert Park Lake will commence on Monday 5 February 2018. The harvester will commence at the southern end of the lake, then progress to the northern sections over 8- 10 working days. Albert Sailing Club has provided input which suggests harvesting in northern basin in front of sailing clubs and areas around Gunn Island should be priority areas.
