Thursday Snippets, 10 October

Join us for Club sailing on Saturday 12th with casual sailing from 10am, and a club race from 2.30 (note the changed start time with the switch to daylight saving). Albert Park Yacht Club are the host club for Briefing, Start boat and finishes.

APYC also have their season opening on Saturday and have invited ASC sailors to participate. From 12 noon there is an informal lunch in the APYC clubrooms – bring a food plate to share — followed by the Season Opening and Blessing of the Fleet. Briefing is at 1.45 for both the 2.30 race and for the 2 – 2.15pm Sailpast.  All those racing in afternoon (at 2.30) or others who simply wish to join in can sail in the Sailpast , via the usual route from the area of the fountain, past APYC to the Boatshed  or vice versa,depending on wind direction. The APYC Commodore, Grant Haggett, will be taking the salute together with Cindy, our Commodore.

On Sunday 20th October, from 10am to 3pm, we have Albert Sailing Club’s Discover Sailing Public Open Day  for the general public and family and friends of club members.The Spring Learn to Sail program then follows commencing Sunday 27th October. The October ASC general committee meeting is on Monday 14th in our clubrooms from 7.30. All welcome.

The City of Port Phillip is providing free or low cost First Aid courses and RSA (Responsible Serving of Alcohol) courses for club members.  If you wish to obtain either of these valuable certifications, please email for relevant details.

  • Friday 18 October:  Social Sail and BBQ.  Club open from 4 p.m.
