Thursday Snippets, 8 February

Saturday 10th February there is full day of sailing at Albert Sailing Club. From 9.30 we have Week 2 of the Summer Learn to Sail course, with 7 adults and 5 juniors. Late morning there is a junior Green Fleet start racing session, then 1 – 4pm Week 1 of the Term 1 junior Green Fleet program with 11 pre-enrolled. At 2.30 is the ASC Summer Series 1 club race.
There are other activities in Albert Park Reserve on Saturday to note. The Queen’s Commonwealth Games Baton relay is coming through the park at 9.30am, and Lakeside Drive on the eastern side of the Lake will be closed till 10am. Athletics Victoria have the final of their 2017/18 Shield competition at Lakeside stadium across the day. Parking useage in Aughtie Drive behind ASC will vary across the day with peak likely to be in the afternoon. If parking in Aughtie Drive is full, you can park in gravel areas either side of club if you have a Parks Vic Sports Club parking permit. If it is full and you do not have a 6 monthly or annual pass, then stop kerbside behind ASC clubrooms and come inside to Galley and seek out Rod Thomas. Rod has a small number of passes which can be purchased from him for parking on gravel area next to the club if required.
A number of our junior Optimist sailors are sailing in the Schnapper Point Regatta across the weekend and we wish them good sailing. The February ASC General Committee meeting is in our clubrooms on Tuesday 13th from 7.30pm. Finally, there is a Responsible Serving of Alcohol course provided at no cost by City of Port Phillip on evening of 5 March. We always need people with RSA accreditation to serve in Doug’s Bar. Contact Jack Woods via for more detail and registration form.
