Thursday Snippets, 25 July

Another busy weekend 27th/28th July. Club open on Saturday from 10am with club winter race from 2pm, including adult and junior classes and green fleet divisions. Social sailing day on Sunday from 10am. Sail your own boat or for ASC members a club training boat. The club’s RS Quest is likely to be sailing, if weather is suitable. Week 2 of VIODA Optimist winter training program on Sunday afternoon. After sailing on Saturday APYC has a Christmas in July function in their clubrooms to which ASC members invited. Now self catering, with fund raiser hampers for Eren Hyde legacy. No Cover Charge.

17th or 24th August a Sabre rigging coaching session is being planned on the Lake involving Alan Riley, the current Australian Sabre Champion. Open to Sabre sailors from APYC and ASC. If you would like to participate speak to David Emery at APYC or email him at shohdo@gmail.com.

31st August, 7th and 21st September annual Bill Hooper series. A good opportunity to start your Spring sailing, in your own boat or a club training boat for ASC members.
7th and 8th September VIODA Optimist class Girls Camp weekend at ASC. Training, some short races, and fun. This is the fourth year this popular event has been hosted by ASC. For junior Optimist sailors (and their mum’s) from ASC and other Victorian sailing clubs. 14th and 15th September APYC’s Citysail Women & Girls coaching and racing Regatta on Albert Park Lake. In recent years a number of ASC women at all levels of experience have participated and enjoyed this event. Club training boats with or without crew available, with option to sail with a male crew. * A reminder that an ASC Membership Engagement Group is being formed to develop actions to attract new members and enhance membership for existing members. We need a few more members to join, in particular some newer members. The first meet will be an internet Skype meet in early August.
