On Saturday 15th February we return to Summer Season sailing on the Lake. As at midweek a moderate SSW wind is being predicted. We have improved Lake conditions with the Lake level up from mid January with only a small amount of centreboard up now required, and boat launching from the wooden decking. On saturday inn the morning there is a Better Sailing session from 9.30. In the afternoon club racing from 2.30, another Green Fleet program session for juniors 8 to 12 years and an Albert Park Youth Development program session in Pacers for juniors 12 to 17 years, in both cases for juniors graduating from Learn to Sail and Tackers programs.
Saturday 22nd there will be an informal Commodore’s chat at lunchtime with the main topic work in progress for a Special General Meeting in May on Unification motions with a Q&A. Club Summer series race and junior programs in the afternoon.
The club’s Autumn Mudpuddler Newsletter is being compiled Please forward event reports, articles, photos, etc. to our editor via mudpuddler@albertsc.org.au. by Wednesday 19th.
The Top of the Bay regatta scheduled for saturday 8th February at Altona had to be cancelled due to the strong winds on Port Phillip. ASC and APYC were joint organisers for this year’s Regatta. Thanks to those who volunteered to assist and a big thanks to our Rear Commodore Steve Dunn who put in a significant effort in organisation of the event. As is usually the case the winds at the Lake were moderate to strong, rather than strong, and there were some good numbers out sailing in junior programs morning and afternoon as shown in this week’s Post and photo on our club Facebook site.
