Thursday Snippets, 9 January 2020

The Albert Sailing Club  program recommences on Saturday 11th January with week 1 of the 2 week Commodore Series. The club will be open from 10am for casual sailing , with club racing from 2.30.

The Lake water level is down to below 1 metre, following minimal rain in inner Melbourne in the last 6 weeks. Sailing is thus with centreboards raised, and launching via the ramp and jetty in front of ASC or the floating pontoon in front of APYC. Rain and storm water inflows are needed to replenish the Lake water level otherwise there will be further deterioration in water level with some more hot days. Updates on the condition of the Lake will be provided through Thursday Snippets and our club website.

January is a busy period for club members sailing in national championship and international events. A number of posts with photos have been placed on the Albert Sailing Club Facebook. Thursday and Friday we have two juniors completing the Australian Optimist championships at Williamstown, two competing in the Australian Youth championship at Sorrento over the weekend and the Sail Melbourne International regatta at Sandringham at the end of next week.
