Next sailing day at Albert Sailing Club is on Saturday 18th January with club open from 10am and Commodore Series 2 short races from 2.30. The Lake water level is down to below 1 metre, so sailing is with centreboards raised, and launching best via the ramp and jetty in front of ASC or the floating pontoon in front of APYC. We need more rain like that of wednesday evening, with some more predicted for the coming week.
A couple of our juniors are sailing in major regattas this weekend. Hamish is sailing in the Laser 4.7 fleet contesting the 240 boat+ Melbourne International Regatta being hosted by Royal Brighton and Sandringham Yacht Clubs. Nigel is sailing a junior Open Skiff (ex- Open Bic) in the national titles at Mordialloc Sailing Club. Upcoming —————
Australia Day long weekend 25/26/27 January.
* No programmed sailing at the Lake.
* Inverloch Classic Wooden Dinghy Regatta with one or more ASC boats involved in shore based displays and some low key races in the Inverloch Inlet. Main day on the sunday.
* Festival of Sails at Geelong, this year mainly keel boat regatta with onshore festival activities.
* Australian BloKart Championships at Casey Fields, Cranbourne. ASC’s Mick Ralph is bringing his land sailing blokart to Melbourne for the nationals. Something different with plenty of action.
Saturday 1 February, ASC/APYC Summer Season series resumes. Also commencement of junior Green fleet program on Saturdays 1.30 to 4pm and summer Learn to Sail on sunday 2nd, with details on www.albertsc.org.au.
