Thursday Snippets, 6 January

Happy New Year. The Albert Sailing Club summer season re-commences with sailing on saturday 8th January.  Week 1 of Commodore short series from 2.30, with Information Session at ASC at 1.45. Club open from 10.30am, with club training boats available for member use from 11.

This week the annual Stonehaven Cup regatta for junior crews under 19 years of age is being sailed in RS Quest boats at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron. The ASC Quest has been transported to RMYS and  after 6 of 10 short format races the ASC Quest team of Hamish, Mietta, Scarlett and Maddy has shown good sailing skills and teamwork to record 5 wins and a third in the 11 boat fleet. We look forward to them finishing off the series well.

Albert Sailing Club wants to give Members plus Family and Friends the opportunity to purchase surplus older boats left at the Club before we advertise more widely – wooden Impulse, Mirror and Sabot, and a full rig Laser . The ASC calendar of saturday club sailing has been published on the Home screen of our club website www.albertsc.org.au.

Roads in the park are being re-sealed over period to mid January, with access via Albert Road steel gates on weekend days and most weekdays. Further details ASC website.

The ASC COVID Safe Plan is also updated on the website as significant changes in Government directions effect in ASC operations occur. Curren key messages are. Don’t come to the club if you have possible COVID symptoms or await test results. Everyone need to checkin in club foyer with QR code or complete paper form. All above 12 years of age needs to be double vaxxed to go upstairs in clubrooms. Masks need to be worn indoors except when eating or drinking, a young child or have a valid exemption.

Melbourne’s largest multi class dinghy regatta, Sail Melbourne, 13th – 16th January at Royal Brighton and Royal Yacht Club Victoria.
Various club regattas and class championships across February and March.
Annual Inverloch Wooden Dinghy Regatta has been moved from its traditional Australia weekend dates to 19 and 20 February.
