This week’s Snippets covers “
* Spring Opening on Saturday 5th October with morning and afternoon sailing options.
* Annual Discover Sailing Public Open Day on Sunday 20th October
* Spring Learn to Sail program commencing Sunday 10th November

* On 5th October we recommence our monthly saturday morning Informal Race or casual sailing for members. Briefing in clubrooms at 1010 for 1100  start.
The afternoon has a short Opening of the Season welcome in the APYC clubrooms at 1pm, with involvement of ASC’s Commodore Greg Ryan. 1.45 Information Session in front of APYC clubrooms for 2.15 Opening Day Sailpast and Ladies Bracelet trophy race at 2.30.
ASC club training boats available to members for hire for am and pm sailing. If the weather is OK we plan to take the club’s RS Quest out for the Sailpast and for the following race. If interested in crewing on the Quest send an email to Rod via training@albertsc.org.au.

* Sunday 20 October Albert Sailing Club’s annual Discover Sailing Public Open Day 10am to 2pm. Your chance to invite family and friends down to try sailing with us on Albert Park Lake and discover our club and its facilities. Club website www.albertsc.org.au has details and Registration links for Visitors and Volunteers who can assist on the day. Pre-register online early to assist us with planning.

* From Sunday 10 November Albert Sailing Club’s Spring Learn to Sail course for members, with option for current non members to join and register. Course am and pm on 10, 17 and 24 November, and am on 30th, Details and Registration link also now on www.albertsc.org.au

Have you been following the Louis Vutton America’s Cup finals between the Italian and British boats?  75 feet foiling monohull boats this week sailing in 20 knot winds with top speed over 100 kms per hour. Complete races available on You Tube. Race 4 from early in the week shows the racing at its best in strong winds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOAEdZIo4g8  Also very energetic cycling by the trimmer crew.
