Albert Sailing Club’s annual short course Regatta, this year “Top of the Lake” Regatta, on saturday 26th and sunday 27th June. Saturday races from 1.15. Sailing on both days of 15/16 May weekend with cool wintry weather predicted both days. Winter season club race at 2pm on saturday, with information session at 1.15 and club open by 10.30am. VIODA Optimist winter coaching program continues 1 to 4pm on sunday.
Perpetual trophies for 2020 were presented at ASC clubrooms on saturday 8th. The Bill Larkins Overall Club Champion trophy was presented to Paul Farrell by Rob Larkins who sailed at ASC as a junior in Sabots and then in his youth in a Moth. (Paul, Rob and Cindy pictured) Rob’s father was a Commodore of ASC in the 1960’s and played as significant role in the building of the original clubrooms.
The presentations were followed by the club’s Annual General Meeting. AGM reports can be found on the AGM tab under The Club on www.albertsc.org.au. Cindy Tilbrook was elected for her third term as Commodore and all nominees were duly elected to the 2021/22 club committee. We look forward to a full club year ahead.

A full weekend on 8 and 9 May. with club sailing day and AGM on saturday 8th and on sunday afternoon the first week of the Victorian Optimist Association winter training program for 30+ junior sailors being hosted at ASC.
On saturday the club will be open from 10am, with a Winter Season club race in class divisions at 2pm. At 5pm the club’s Annual General Meeting will be held to hear reports and elect the 21/22 General Committee. Also presentation of 2020 ASC perpetual trophies in the afternoon.

* All members are encouraged to attend the AGM to be held in person at 5pm (ASC Clubrooms, 1 Aquatic Drive, South Melbourne). There are alternative online/telephone options, with an email to secretary@albertsc.org.au in advance if using an option.
* All documents for the meeting, including the Minutes of the 2020 Annual General Meeting, the report of the Committee, the Financial Statements and Treasurer’s report can be found on the Albert Sailing Club website under the first menu item The Club / Annual General Meeting. Also details on how to join in by Zoom or phone.
* An informal dinner is proposed to be held after the meeting for those who can stay on. Please notify the secretary (secretary@albertsc.org.au) if you plan to stay for the informal dinner.

The Club’s Winter Season commences with a club sailing day on saturday 1st May. The club will be open from 10am. The first race of the Winter Series has division starts from 2pm, with Information Session at 1.15. The midweek forecast for saturday sounds good with predicted temperatures in the low 20’s with a light to moderate northerly. Also in the morning there will be an ASC search crew out in the Northern Lake basin trying to locate the missing mooring for our Aerial II Start/Finish boat.

On saturday 24th April we have our Autumn Working Bee from 9.30 till finished, hopefully early afternoon. Plenty of jobs, with a list at the top of the clubrooms stairs. This is a day for all members to show support in maintenance of our club and equipment.There is a Rowing Regatta programmed on the Lake till early afternoon. No club racing but potentially opportunity for casual sailing after working bee finishes.

In the morning our club’s annual ‘Virgo’ Ladies Skippers Race, this year to be sailed 2up in club RS Zests. 10am Morning tea and Information Session, with short format race from 11. Lady skippers and crew from Lake clubs and other clubs welcome. This weekend the Australian Sailing Victorian Youth Sailing Championships are being sailed at Royal Yacht Club Victoria at Williamstown. ASC’s Hamish is competing in Laser and Nigel Leishamn in Opti Skiff (ex-Bic) and we wish them well.

Club sailing day on saturday 10th. Club open from 10am. Afternoon race reverts to autumn and winter timings of starts from 2pm with 1.15 Information Session. This week ASC is the host club with our Commodore Cindy Tilbrook as Race Officer. Club training boats available for member hire, subject to conditions and experience.

ASC Picnic and Social Sailing Day on sunday 28th. This should be a good day for new, temporary, existing and former members and their families. and a friend or two. On water activities will include sailing in the Northern basin and touring the lake, with club sail boats and kayaks available for members and guests who don’t have their own boat to sail. From Friday 26th to Sunday 28th the Victorian School Team Sailing State Championship is being sailed from Royal Yacht Club Victoria at Williamstown. There are a number of current and recent ASC juniors sailing in the St Michael’s Grammar team and we wish them fair winds and good sailing.

On Friday 19th we have what will be the final (and sadly also the first) twilight sailing for the 20/21 sailing season. Some of us will be at the club from mid afternoon. The club’s larger RS Quest will be rigged for people who would like to be taken out for a sail and club training boats available subject to weather conditions and your experience level. Arrive when you like and sail till the sun starts going down. For those who have registered there will be a New Members dinner from 6.30 for 7.00.
Regular sailing day on saturday with club open from 10am and club race from 2.30 and junior training programs from 2pm.
For those coming down on Friday or midweek more generally parking fees apply at $5.40 per hour till 5pm. Then flat rate $5.40 from 5pm till 9pm,. Flat rate $5.40 for a weekend day. Unless o course you have an annual parking permit.

In accordance with Victorian Government COVID19 restrictions announced on 27th May all activities at Albert Sailing Club are cancelled and clubrooms and boatyard closed for 7 day period from 12 midnight on 27th, unless an earlier change to restrictions is announced.
